See You for Purim

Posted in Happening at the 'Gogue by orshalom on March 15th, 2011

Hooray for Purim, the zaniest holiday on the Jewish calendar. On March 19 we’ll end Shabbat with a Havdalah service followed by the reading of the Book of Esther. Bring your own grogger or pick one up at services but plan to help us drown out the name of you-know-who when Rabbi Jacob reads his name during this special Saturday night service. Dress code for Purim services is fun or funny – dress in costume or wear a kooky hat but get into the spirit of the holiday as we celebrate the joyous deeds of Queen Esther. After services everyone continues the merriment with an ice cream party in the social hall. For those over 21, a refreshing drink will be served!

About Congregation Or Shalom

Posted in Uncategorized by orshalom on March 8th, 2011

Torah Talk with Rabbi Jacob brings Jewish learning to your iPod or computer screen. This podcast presents a weekly sermon or torah reading by Rabbi Jacob Rosner, the spiritual leader of Congregation Or Shalom in Berwyn, Pennsylvania.

Congregation Or Shalom has been home to the Jewish community of the Western Main Line since its beginning in 1974. Founding members recall children fast asleep on laps, families playing together and worshiping together. As we have grown along with our larger community, we have maintained that welcoming atmosphere, the sense that each of us makes a difference simply by belonging.

There's more to us than what can we can share in this post.  If you'd like to get more acquainted with us and Rabbi Rosner, we invite you to listen to our weekly podcast, visit our website at www.OrShalom.com and connect with us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CongregationOrShalom
